Yesterday was GBV Day in New York City, and as part of the spectacular week-long festival of
celebration, Guided By Voices made their second (and final) appearance on Late Night with Conan
O'Brien. It was really a great day. The esteemed Mr. Jack Stenner has made a Quicktime movie of
it for anyone who missed out. The sound is pretty muddy, apparently because the NBC studios
aren't equipped to handle PURE ROCK POWER. Also, Conan lies: GBV will appear at least once more
on television, for an epsiode of Austin City Limits airing January 22, 2005 (with some band
called "Modest Mouse" -- I mean, what the fuck is that, a bunch of lace-trimmed church ladies?).
Cheers to the kids in New York tonight who are kicking off three nights in a row of live GBV at
Irving Plaza.
